OK, everyone knows not all crankbaits are created equal, even ones of the same brand, same model...etc..

Well I started with this Lucky Craft crank the week before the road trip and since then have beaten it to death. I changed the rear hook this afternoon, but was wondering about the paint job. It is still catching fish, but should I try and nail polish paint it, or do I risk the chance of messing it up? It has been bounced off of Guntersville rocks so much the paint is coming off. Bill is still in fairly good shape, and now both hooks are good. So only thing I am wondering, nail polish paint it, or leave it alone until I loose it?

It ain't broke, don't fix it! Personally I love it when they're beat up like that, they just catch more fish for me that way it seems.

I was kind of thinking, if you have ever fished with minnows or shiners, you know when they get bit and you don't catch a fish, the scales start to come off. Does this make it look like a vulnerable hurt baitfish? Hmm.....I will be fishing this crankbait tomorrow so we will see how she does on Pickwick!

If it were mine, I would be tempted to touch-up the color on the back some; but I don't think it is to the point of necessity, especially if the fish still like it. I would definitely take a little red paint and rub it into the scratches on the sides. I like mine a little zombified.

Cranking that thing through, around, on top of, against and under ANYTHING I can, and it is getting nailed! But alot of that was Guntersville rock levees and bridges in 20-40 MPH winds.

Worst my cb's look are some bite scratches in them (besides the bottom rubbing), I throw them a lot but them pickerel end up keeping them before they get that bad

The looks only matter to the fisherman, not to the fish. Those lures look ok, I have lures that have only 1 or 2 hooks on the treble, and I don't replace them that often. This bass lure which has never caught a bass but lots of snook, jacks and cuda is just starting to look good now.

That crank is just starting to get character.

I'd be afraid that a nail polish paint job would throw off the action due to the added weight. Leave it!
