Anyone Else Love Rooster Tails?

Featured Replies

I use the tiny ones for Crappies and such but recently bought some big ones. Half ounce and up and man I love em. Anything that swims and has a mouth will eat them. Ive caught LMB, SMB, Walleye, Pickerel, Musky, and even some Carp on them. The big ones really put out a lot of thump and vibration and flash. Theyre part of my emergency kit, the stuff I use when fishing is slow. So, anyone love Rooster Tails?

I personally dont. However the only times i used in-line spinner baits is stream teout fishing and the spinner of choice goes to panther martin over roostertails each time.

I'm with you, Rooster Tails ROCK!!!

They were one of the first lures I can remember using along with a road runner and beetle spin and original rapala. I rarely bass fish with them anymore and if I do it's normally a Mepp's spinner. They seem to attract larger bass for me. Mainly I use them in one creek for wipers when the water is high because they aren't effected much by the moving water like some other baits are.

Mostly a white bass lure for me. Yellow or white being the prefered colors.

I like the rooster tails (design) the least out of inlines, now the blue fox bells and panther martins work much better when going through obstructions

I personally have never used one for bass, but I have a teammate who does really well with them.

Great bait...especially for river fishing.

I like all in line spinners. Rooster Tail just happen to be my favorite.

Anyone ever use Joe's Flies spinners? Theyre awesome as well.

thats all i troll with on lead core most of time time for trout, i use my own flys on it though.. the best combo i use right now has been the gold blade with a smelt pattern on there... sometimes i switch it up to a big ugly or just snap on the hook and night crawler or minnow.

very effecive bait for river smallies

Caught a nice 4lb catfish today on a 1/2 ounce Rooster. Black with a nickel blade. Lure just hit the water and he snagged it.

I love em they to are in my panic box its all I used when a kid hitting the river on my way home from school id catch tons of small mouth on em. I prefer the Bluefox personally though but I have almost every one under the sun every corner store here sells them as the Oak is a major trout fisherie that people come from all over to fish so panther martins are popular here.

Some roostertails are fine. Others stink-they don't seem to ever want to spin. I never have that problem with mepps or panther martins.

I kill SM in my local river on rooster tails. In fact I've caught my pb SM on an inline rooster tail. I love using the older Shyster brand over Worden's, P. Martin or Mepp's.
