beaver bait trailer

Featured Replies

i was wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas on how they use beaver style baits as trailers on jigs.

i love flipping jigs to the holes in the lily pad fields i fish. since thats a prome hideout for bluegill ive had some success with using beaver baits as trailers to semi mimic that look. but i cant find a good way to rig them so they one. stay put on the jig where i want them. or two..... finding a creative way to change up the entire look of the presentation....

any ideas?

I use the sweet beaver on 1/2 & 3/4 oz jigs for a larger profile. No problems making them stay on the jig..

What exactly are you using..i.e jig type, and trailer..?

ive been using a variety of jigs. my favorite is just a generic booyah jig..... and the trailers are again. what ever i have around. i use alot of gander mtns version. my issue is that each time it gets bit the trailer seems to take a bruising and slip off the keeper built into the jig.

but my tackle box is a mix of odds & ends of different kinds and styles of jigs and plastics

I fish Double Wide Beavers on GMAN 1/2 & 3/4 oz

stand up jigs. The presentation is huge and sometimes,

so are the bass that try to eat it!

No issues with the trailer coming off except when

the fish occasionally rips it off. I generally lose the

jig before the Sweet Beaver wears out.

BTW, I marinate most jig trailers in JJ's Magic.

Sometimes I will stick with MegaStrike on trailers

since I use it on all other baits.

A little drop of superglue will hold it on there. :)

I use the 3.5 beaver craw on a 1/2 MegaStrike Evo jig. On this jig the trailer rarely falls off.
