I just recently purchased a few Cavitrons (have been using them for a LONG time) and not one, but both run off to the right when I am retrieving them. I have never had these types of issues and I have tried readjusting every part of the buzzbait with no success.

What could this be?

**Note: I am using the same setup I have always used for buzzbaits.

The nature of buzzbaits. I've got half a dozen or so that have either been that way since new or knocked outta wack by big fish. All the different tuning tips out there do nothing. If it bugs ya you can try reachin out to megastrike, or the entity you bought them from, you never know.

I have NEVER seen a safety pin type buzzbait that runs true, everyone in my box runs to the right, it is a product of blade rotation. I do have a couple in-line buzzbaits with 2 counter rotating blades that run straight.

You are saying the Cavitron's have run true for you in the past? If so I may get a couple to try.

Weird...I don't think I have ever had a buzzbait that DIDN't run true for the most part - obviously it may run off to the right/left after a fish catch, but right out of the box? Never had that issue..maybe it's time to switch brands.

I have about 6-7 Cavitrons and every one of them runs to the LEFT, no matter how much i try to re-adjust them....BUT, i think thats the case with all my single blade Buzzbaits.

Now, i just mainly use the Booyah Counter strike dual blade (not dual arm) and its been the most successful buzzbait i've ever used....runs true and can take a BEATING!

Of course there are times depending on my angles that i desire the "untrue" run and i use those buzzbaits (with success)

I like the strike king double takes they run true no matter how many fish I catch, and it's a now presentation for the fish, also they work well if you take the skirt off and put a 4-5" hollow body swimbait on it

Just to clarify, I have slingle bladed buzzbaits that run a LITTLE to the left/right, but my cavitrons are way off track, just like a crankbait that needs to be tuned.

That is what I am wondering as well. I have always just used my palomar know...what would everyone recommend? I've been meaning to try the Rapala Knot.

I would have to take a look at it. Is it the 1/4 oz ?? I find that if you reel them to fast they will run to the right--Run to the left I havent had that happen unless I bent the arm to make it run like that on purpose. The Hook -center arm and top arm must all be straight in alignment. The blades are cupped at a certain angle to catch as much water as possible. Thats what makes it run slower. SLOW THE BAIT DOWN and it should run straight. I find it more with the 1/4 oz and never had any issues with the 3/8 oz. ANY BEND IN ARMSHAFTS OR DEBRIS on the front line tie will make it run offset. Even a little tag end of line at the knot will catch water and make it run off to the side. Its just deflecting water and causing resistance. Trying slowing it down a bit and see what results you get.

They are the 3/8 oz model. I tend to fish everything fast, but I will try and slow down and check all the arms again to make sure they are straight...It's just weird that BOTH are doing this.

3/8 oz exclusively, no trailer

I begin the retrieve the moment the buzzbait hits the water.

I never let the lure sink unless, of course, I have a little bit

of "professional overrun".

I have 3, all will run right if fished too fast, these blades are ment to be fished just under the surface I think because all 3 run true when slow rolled and the blades just barely crack the surface.

I too use a polomar knot.

If you like you can adjust the blade angles -Opening them allows

less resistance which allows it to be retrieved faster BUT THEY MUST BE CLOSE TO THE SAME ANGLE OR IT BECOMES UNBALLANCED.. Like i said these are designed to be retrieved very SLOOOOOOOOWLY

The only buzzbaits I used that ran true were a custom made on with counter rotating delta blades but every one of the single blade buzzers I use runs slightly to the side.

All my cavitrons fade to the left and I'd much rather them do that than run straight. I can follow a weedline or run the bait under a dock or into cover much easier with them running like that.

I went fishing last night -took 4 cavitrons and all ran straight right out of the package

I've never seen them run off to the right like that. Does the blade spin freely on the rivet? I've had one or two where the body wanted to roll to the left no matter how I tuned it or how slow I fished it. I wouldn't call them duds because they still caught fish despite them rolling over. Cavitrons are my favorite buzzers my far, but they're unusually finicky when it come to getting the wire angles tuned up properly in order to get them to run true.
