Discontinuing Revo Line?

Featured Replies

I had intentions of buying the revo sx as my firs baiting reel. the guy at bps told me they don't have any. Also, good luck finding any because they are discontinuing them...

it would have been $130 on sale

What is a good quality fist timer baitcaster seeing i cant get the sx?

Shimano Citica?

Lews tournament, about $105.00 if you got the money buy the Tournament Pro about $145.00 street price and the best bang for the buck I have found. holds over 120 yards of 30LBS. Braid and has a 15 lbs. max drag that is smooth as silk and the Pro weighs a mear 6.7 oz. I love mine, and heave heard zero complaints from owners that use them.

BPS Pro Qualifier, BPS carbonlite, Shimano Citica, Lews Speed Spool, there are quite a lot of options in that price range. The Daiwa Lexa also looks promising as a new reel by daiwa filling in the void of their market with budget reels.

Citicas are great! So are the PQs. Or an used Curado B.

Good luck on your search.

P.S. I won't even keep the Revo SX is the same ballpark for a first baitcaster lol. I've had bad luck with Abu reels.

yeah the revo line up isn't going anywhere like DVT said just upgraded like the Shimanos were last year its Revo this year just better

E bay i seen $119 free ship brand new

There's alot of good choices that have been mentioned. PQ, Citica, Lews are all fine reels. Also consider Pflueger. Although they don't get a ton of love from this site it is still a fine reel. I have 4 of them and they work flawlessly. Pflueger will also be closer to the abu line since they have the same parent company (pure fishing). For the revo SX line i would check out the Pflueger President as a good comparison.

All reels recommended are great for a first. I would stay away from the SX due to the magnetic brakes. They are difficult to use for a first reel. Stick to something that has centrifical brakes.

X2

Start with a Revo S or an STX I have a TON of Revos, wont fish anything else!!

if you really want an SX, i highly recommend waiting until september for the third-generation SXs. the first- and second-generation SXs can get "squirrely". abu-garcia is replacing the magnetic braking system with a more-traditional design that will undoubtedly work better.

otherwise, the citica, the revo S, lew's speed spool and BPS pro qualifiers are all good (i've had 'em all).

by the way, if you pre-order the 3rd generation SX from THUT, you get 20 percent off...comes out to $136 shipped.
