Jig Trailer Questions

Featured Replies

I've been fishing with jigs for a few months now. I always string the trailer on so the hook is straight through the back and out the front. I've been watching a lot of FLW tournaments lately, and I noticed that a lot of guys just hook the trailer once through the middle. I was just wondering, does it make a difference how you rig the trailer? Whats everyone's favorite way to rig trailers? I haven't caught a bass in a while and I'm trying to figure out how to catch one in cold water. I use Yum Chunk trailers and Chiggercraws, should I rig these trailers the same way or differently? Thanks for the help everyone.

Craw Worms I thread up the hook...Chunks I put these on like a chunk   :(

Im with Catt...hook a chunk straight through the chunk, but with longer baits, thread the hook through the longer part of the body

X3 the above advice

More to think about. At temps below 60 use a pig trailer, plastic over 60. The pork has a slower fall. As far as the rigging...i never use a plastic chunk...only pork (#11) rigged through the "hook hole". When i use plastic it is a crawfish type threaded up the shank.

I with everybody else.  I thread whole body craws on the jig hook and just hook chunks on the jig hook.

I almost always thread my trailers on.   Mostly because I fish clear water and want a smaller profile.

On an ocasion when I'm pitchin/flipin' more muddy water I will just pass it through the chunk to get more action/vibration.

Agreed.

For a smaller profile thread on trailer. Even if it's a chunk type trailer I'll thread it on...sometimes.

Threaded chunks seem to foul the hook point less also.

I don't see any pork chunks for sale. Where do you buy them?
