Shaky Head

Featured Replies

I would like to start using the shaky head more. What jig heads are good? Round, football, or other? Where should I buy them? What plastics are good to throw on a shaky head? Thanks

I am going to send you a PM as the jig head I use does not advertise on this Forum.

You want a jig head with a long and strong hook.

Any brand will suffice if it features a 2/0, 3/0 or 4/0 brand name hook.

As for the head style, I like a round head although I do throw the flat bottom Shake'2 jigs. A compact, round head with a long and strong hook.

The best ones are not cheap. And if you throw them where the fish live you will lose them. This is by design from the Bait Monkey.

Check out the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's catalogs plus Tackle Warehouse and other sites. The brand I am going to send you has some outstanding jig heads and I use them in tournaments.

I also use the Skake'2 jig head from MegaStrike. The Shake'2 keeps the trick worm standing straight up. I know this as a fact as I dropped one on the bottom of the swimming pool where I go swimming to be thin and happy.

So check out the MegaStrike web page and the manufacturer I am going to PM you and you can't go wrong. But you will still lose them.

If the bottom is rocky, then I use a football shakey. Otherwise, a ball head is fine. My favorite shakey worm is the Hag's Tornado. Also use Davis Shakeyhead Worms and Zoom Trick Worms.

This one here is by far my favorite. I've used alot of different types but the flat based football head along with the wide gap hook just out fishes the rest I've used.

I like them, too!

I make my own which is a ball head with a flat eye hook and and a screw lock, the screw lock holds the worm better without tearing it up and the round head works around wood rocks and grass.
