Caught this morning in a local farm pond on an 8" blue/red glitter worm. While not my biggest bass to date, I decided I would like to get her mounted. It took a lot of back and forth thinking on whether to let her go or not, but I had no way to get pics or measurements for a replica, and the pond regularly produces bass of this size, so I dont feel too terrible about it. I want one good one to go on the wall, and I'll be happy with letting the rest I catch go. She scaled in at 9lbs 4oz. 25" in length, with a 17 1/2" girth, and put up a great fight. I'm one happy camper.

Thanks for looking!

Congrats man. Today was a good day.

Holy tolitio, nice bass!

Your lake produces alot of bass that size? Do they put miracle grow in there? I haven't seen one like that since January. Great job!

nice catch

Wow. Have you measured lenght and girth yet? Congrats

Also, I have no problem with anyone mounting a fish. I do have a question though. You said you have caught larger and your profile shows a 10-11 pound PB. Did you let that monster go? If I were in your shoes, I might have mounted the 10+ and let the 8 go.

Curiousity just got the best of me....

Congrats again!

Thanks for all the kind words fellas, it was a great day for me.

Logan9209- There has been several caught over 10lb in the last two years, no miracle grow, just plenty of bluegill to feed on.

Basswhippa- Didn't get a chance to measure the length and girth before wrapping her up and getting it on ice, but I told the taxidermist to get some measurements and weigh it on their certified scale today. Also, yes, my personal best is 10lb 7oz. caught at a pond where I was not allowed to keep it. I didnt even have a camera with me to get a picture, it kind of made me sick since the man who owned the pond was selling his place at auction the next week, and it wouldnt have mattered if I kept "his" fish or not. I caught several in the 7's this past year and said if I got one atleast 8lb that I would mount it.

Thanks again,

Brandon

Nice fish man it'll look great on your wall

DBSULLY, regarding the 10.7, and I know it won't matter much as you probably won't face the same owner situation again, but you can always measure the fishes legth and girth with a piece of fishing line, and then send it to Lake Fork Taxidermy and get a good replica. for that matter, they run a special on a 25" 11 lber that looks great, assuming your fish was real fat. It is less than $300. Nobody would know but you.

I don't have a picture or measurements of the second largest fish I caught. It was in a pond and I released it and assumed I would catch it again. I never did. I wish I had a photo and some measurements. If hard pressed I would say is was 24" with an 18" girth, but I should used a piece of line to measure.

Basswhippa-

I'll have to keep that in mind incase the situation arises again. Thanks for the tip.

**UPDATE**

I just checked my answering machine, and my taxidermist measured the length, girth and weighed on a certified scale today. 25" in length, 17 1/2" in girth, and 9lbs 4oz in weight. The only thing I had to weigh with before was my digital bathroom scale, so I weighed myself, then weighed again holding the fish and it fluctuated and came up with an 8lb difference. Im glad to know she weighed more than 8, but I would have been just as thrilled if that was all.

Brandon, outstanding catch! Congrats.

I was worried for a few seconds after reading your post's name.

I thought you were going to talk about a Bamasux cheerleader!

nice fish man..

Sully, I edited my post this morning, regarding Lake Fork having a sale on one near to the size the 10.7. You might want to read it. Less than $300 is my memory. Good luck!

PS, I though you fish looked a lot like a 9.5 I caught in December. Glad it was bigger. Congrats.

Excellent fish and WTG... She's a beauty!
