Hey guys I am looking for some tips on how to find bass in shallow water. since i love fishing shallow water bout 4-8ft of water and I usually catch decent fish. I am just looking for every ones output on the subject of fishing shallows?? If you have any tips please post them.

Sam's number 7 & 9 is how I usually fish the ponds in my area. Good stuff! also let your trick worm sink a little n work the middle of the water column parallel to weed edges or around structure

I am hoping to catch a big one this weekend any tips where they might be in structure during the day??

I've been catching quality fish with 10" or slightly smaller t-rigged culprit or zoom mag trick worms lately. 3/16 oz tungsten weight or less. Key is to fish it slow, throw multiple times to good structure and work it very tight. Bite usually happens as you bust thru the structure on the down fall. Keep good contact with the bait and watch your line. Good luck.

The simplest solution is to look for points, just small outcroppings along the bank will do.

Another question for you all the 3 baits I use are spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and trigged rubber worms. I use 4 colors white,red,black,chartreuse. Now my real question is how many should i Have of the crankbaits and spinnerbaits?? i no im gonna get 4 1 of each color for both is that enough though??

Try these worm colors.

1. Green pumpkin / black flake

4. Firetiger

I have 200 bucks to spend on fishing lures so im gonna get 4 black,red,white,chartreuse KVD squarebill crankbaits. 4 black,red,white,chartreuse KVD spinner baits. 4 packs of zoom 7in curly tail worms in Black with blue flake,Red with black flake, White, and Some type of really bright color like charteuse maybe like green on orange

Will this cover my basic needs of fishing the shallows and other areas???

Get a frog if there is any weed mats or lily pads. You should have a frog no matter what in your box. Snag a pack of Zoom Super flukes or fluke jr's. Those are fun to fish and they produce.

What kind of frog??? specifically

Personally I like many different hollow body styles, like the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog, or Booyah Pad Crasher, or even Scum Frogs. SPRO frogs are really popular, but for what they cost you can get two of the ones I mentioned above. Koppers Live Target frogs are really nice too, expensive though. I prefer hollow body style over soft body frogs but Rage Toads are good if you go that route. Zoom makes the Horny Toad, that's another decent soft body frog.

So how do you fish the frogs??

Flip the matted grass in the grass beds.

The plastic frogs like the zoom or rage toads are texas rigged wieghtless more or less and you reel them across the top like a buzz bait. The hollow body can be reeled, walk the dog, popped. If you don't want a frog, get a buzzbait. any one of the them afore mentioned are a blast to see, hear and feel the top water strikes.

4/0 or 5/0 EWG with no weight. Rod tip up and reel medium to fast. They will splash across the top just like a little froggy buzz bait. You might miss the first couple hook sets by reeling or pulling up a little too early but you will get the hang of the timing.

If your toad gets hit, do a one-one thousand count, then set the hook. That will allow the fish to get it all the way in its mouth. MCS tips are spot on. 5/0 on the soft body frogs unless they're really small then 4/0, nothing less than that.

I prefer the fish parallel to the shore or drop off, I like to deadstick or flip a worm with no weight or as little as possible as long as the tail gets the spiral drop effect. I will crank the opposite side, but topwater from the shore out to grass or pads helps the cause… =
