Being in the midwest ive been seeing this first hand. Its gut wrenching pulling up to a spot seeing dozens of fish in each spot belly up.

Man this is getting bad! If this keeps up there might not be anymore fishing.

I just got back yesterday from a long weekend of fishing at my families summer home in central Wisconsin. My lake is only about 65 acres with an average depth of 3.5-4 feet. A lot of slop fishing. I was getting average water temps of 88 degrees. Some spots hit 90's. Surprisingly, there hasn't been any summer kill due to the extreme heat. Water is about a foot and a half low. Fishing was ok, landed a few largemouth biggest being 3 lb 13 oz. Got a few pike too but the warm water definitely was keeping them all from being aggressive. We need some good cold rain storms to just crush the midwest for about a week straight.

I think while it is going to be rough on the sprt fish such as bass and walleye,in time they will rebound.I'm more concerned with the effects on threatened species like some of the sturgeon etc

Yeah, me too. I had three tournaments cancelled in the past two weeks. One of them was a pretty major, and a fourth was an absolute blank tournament; one person caught one fish- dead in the livewell so he ended negative on points. It's tough right now, to say the least. Mark- right now a LOT of the lakes 89 is low. You want to talk about extreme temps- there are some reservoirs that don't stratify that are hitting 96-98 degree temps at 5 foot depth. It's pretty crazy.

I fished a small-ish lake yesterday that has crystal clear water and loads of springs- Even there, the temps are low 90's at three feet down. A lot of the water supply reservoirs are down by five to seven feet...

Wow thats insane. I did hit a 90 or 91 spot in 2-3 foot of water but mostly in the 80's. Hopefully with the cooler temps coming it will chill things out so to speak.
