I have fished pickwick 4 times in the last 2 weeks

And I have boated a total of about 3 fish. I have never struggled this bad on pickwick. Most of my fishing has been between McFarland and Waterloo. This is my last weekend before I start back to school.

Can anyone offer any reports?

Try Spring Creek. Just look for the schooling bait fish. You'll see them by the thousands and you never know whats chasing them. Fish around blow downs in the creek and cast some of the weeds along the bank. Take it easy in the creek if you're not familiar with the channel. Its plenty deep enough for a big bass boat to go at least past the third pipe.

Thanks. I went Friday night and caught a bunch of fish in barge canal. They were all 12" fish but at least it was bites.

Went this afternoon for awhile. Two little smallies, one about fourteen inches and the other about eleven inches. I also caught one largemouth about twelve inches long. Add a three pound catfish. I have had better trips but have had worse also. Since I am no longer riding a motorcycle, I will be spending more time on the river.

And how cool would it be to win a tournament with your twelve year old son as a partner.

I'm taking my first guided fishing trip ever on Pickwick in the morning. I hope the bite is better than you guys say but I've never been here so if all I get to do is see the lake and put a fish in the boat I think I'll be happy.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you caught it on an umbrella rig. By the way, if I'm not mistaken that fish you are holding is a bass.

They're not schooling a whole lot right now. You still should have caught one or two though. How far did you go up in there? What were you using for bait? Guess you just don't know the spots. There's two even better spots that you can't get to by boat. Gotta walk in there to them. And yes to answer the other question I was using the Alabama Rim, Yums version of it.

Best places are under the trestle or at the old mill.

Got this healthy one this morning swimming around Spring Creek. To bad my Alabama Rig is in the mouth of a stripe somewhere down there...lol.
