Arkie U-Head

There was a topic about these around a year ago I think but it didn't get much attention so I thought I would try my luck this time. Has anybody fished these with success? Pros/Cons? I'm more so interested in hook ups with their slender long shank hook. The river is rising so I thought I may just dink around with these on some backwater gravel on smallmouth this weekend. I hate to shy away from the Pumpkin E2D but these look neat and finding pumpkin ed's in 1/8 and 3/16 seems darn near impossible. Always sold out and never reordered in local stores. I've read there are also other companies that make a copy of these but /w better components and and EWG hook. If you know of them I'd love to try. Fall smallmouth shaky head fishing is coming up quick!

That is a great video. However, it has nothing to do with the u-head.

I have used them a lot and have given them plenty of opportunity to prove their performance. I like the design using a regular offset worm hook. BUT not any more. The hooks are very weak for the wire diameter they have and are not as sharp as most other hooks I use.

As far as copies, I would not buy them if they have EWG hooks, only with a quality offset worm hook in at least the 3/0 size.

Love em and use em regularly. I typically only use a zoom trick worm with it and it just kills em where I fish. I rarely miss a fish and in fact I don't think I have using these so far. Tht first time I threw these I caught 8 in an hour so they pretty much sold me on them. I typically get great side hooksets or roof of tht mouth hooksets most of tht time.

Could you cut off the stock hook, add a split ring, then add the hook of you choice?

That would be called a jika rig.
