Sleeper Topwater Bait?

Featured Replies

Whats some of your favorites? Im normally good with a sammy, buzzbait, torpedo, frog, spook, etc. But variety is the spice of life as they say.

1. All time favorite, Rapala x-walk 14 in glass ghost. Its a big bait, and fairly heavy at 1 1/4oz. Looks just like a big crippled shad. One of the craziest things Ive ever seen a bass do was follow and hit this thing several times over 40'. It was 9lb fish BTW.

2.Norman topdollar..nice and subtle.

3. Heddon Dying Flutter. A prop bait that walks pretty dang good.

4. Ima Big Stick. Great casting bait and deadly when the time is right. I can take a 7 1/2' rod and spool and E7 curado.

5. Deps Basirisky. A weedless jitterbug. Very different action in areas that fish dont often see these baits. A true big fish bait.

Heddon one knocker - when the'yre chasing shad in open water.

Spro bronzeye - On grass mats , lilypads, and wood cover.

Strike King tour grade buzzbait. - along the shoreline and on the side of lillypads

I have an old crippled shad. Honestly forgot about that bait! Haven't thrown it 12-15 years!

Unweighted trick worm.

Not very expensive as far as hand-made hand-painted and hand-tested baits go, but fairly difficult to acquire!

Rago Tool; this is the "baby" version, and the floater. Also, the "inspiration" behind the Spro BBZ.

Doesn't seem to be as popular with the swimbait crowd as it once was.

Castaic Wood Trout.

The bait that started it all. I doubt how many owners of this bait actually fish it! I do.

Unweighted trick worm.

Since u threw a plastic worm out there, here is one I just started using a bitters vibe worm red shad green flake. Love hitting the edges of grass with it. Let it sink a little then bring it to the surface n splash it back.

Brian's "B's" Custom

Prop "B" #3

Sort of like a vintage Skipjack Shad....but lots better.

Here's another..zeta bait tadpole. Nice little frog. I used to do work with that bait on a spinning loaded with braid. I "think" their out of production. I have 2 left.

I'm old school. Super Spook Jr. although I've been known to throw a Torpedo when conditions warrant a little more noise.

MCS, I am not familiar with the Vitters brand.

Is it a local brand in Florida?

The Rage Tail Anaconda also will work in place of a trick worm.

Give the new Rage Tail Menace a try. I think you are going to be amazed!

Lucky craft T-splash!!

Unweighted trickworm and trickworm with a tiny nail in the rear- Walk the dog with this in the shallows!

Modified Devils Horse- The Florida favorite!

Guess I might add the baby Koppers frog. It flat out ctaches fish and don't let the size fool you. Plenty of big fish won't hesitate to "toilet bowl swirl" this tiny morsel! The only disadvantage is heavier cover as it won't cause enough disturbance in the grass and such.

Yes Bitter's bait is a Florida brand but they have a website u can order online.I recently just started using them, I saw florida fisherman mention them and I found a tackle shop that carries them here in jax. Once i saw the product I liked what I saw, very good price, good color selection and they work. It is similar to a zoom ultra vibe worm. It is better in that it has hook slots, a beefier tail and scented. The have a worm similar to a trick worm.....junebug/blue tip or junebug pearl. ;)

rebel popr and spook jr are my go-tos.

fluke jrs are another that i love.

The Heddon Pop n' Image and Spit n' Image. Don't get a lot of press, but are top quality lures that last for years.

They catch the fire out of bass!
