Anyone tried these??? They look so realistic but i wonder what their action is and how they fish. A lake that I will be fishingthis summer is stacked with them. I will be trying jigs, tubes, rage tail craws and i thought these could be my secret weapon.

I have wanted to try one for quite some time now. I'm worried they would not be very durable. I know you can drop shot them but what size ewg would work for weedless applications?

I have a few Huddlebugs,and they come prerigged with the weights and a small wire area in front where you can slip the point of the hook through.

When fishing it like this,you have to fish it VERY slow,as a crawdad wouldnt be going too fast when moving forward

I have tried my huddlebugs a few times,but just want getting a confident vibe so I hung em up. I still have em,and may break em out again this year.

IMHO, these bugs are almost as good as live bugs. They come pre-rigged with weights and a fine wire that you just insert a hook from the underside, they suggest a size 6 drop shot hook. Me personally, I like a size 4 or 2 Daiichi Bleeding Drop Shot Hook. Go through the metal eyelet and come out the top, between the eyes. As far as durability, they are pretty durable.

Secret tips, insert a small glass rattle and cover it with ypur choice of attractant. I like Pro-Cure Craw. Fish them slow, try to imagine a crawdad crawling along the bottom.

I've been fishing them for the last 2 seasons. As previously mentioned they must be fished very slow, just a notch up from dead sticking and are good for beds but hard to see well once casted as the colors are muted. Durability has not been an issue. It's a fairly small bait, all the lmb and smb I've taken on them have swallowed the entire bait so the bait usually returns intact. The colors are very realistic. This bait requires a fairly light line presentation. With such a small hook, there is no real hook set. It's more like a drop shot. Just put a bend in the rod and start reeling. I prefer to throw them on medium spinning gear over a fairly weed free bottom. The bait seems to get lost in weeds but excels in clears water with rocks/logs. Since you really have to crawl the bait (with some pauses) I usually break it out after I have covered an area with another bait and feel that there may be a fish or two still willing to have an easy crayfish snack.

I was thinking about trying some as well but thought they might not do as well in the dingy water on the Potomac.  Back in some of the creeks around hydrilla beds might be another story.  That water always seems to be pretty clear.  I imagine they would really excell in clear lakes with less cover.

These Flat out catch fish. I had 7 in 10 mins..however 3 came unbottoned..still that work. I fished them a bit different than how Mike said to fish them..I slowly bounced them off the bottom about a foot, when they come dowm..Bam!..I do let them sit for about 15-30 secs. then bring em up again..of course, this doesn't always work in every situation. BTW, I used the watermelon craw..in pretty stained water Didn't get any hits on the red ones yet.

Monkey hasn't came back yet, I tink she kicked it in the seeds... besides I got 3 months befoe I can bass fish, Its hard enough making stuff for other people all day during the winter, let alone looking at baits you want to test out!
