Dropshot Hook Keep

Featured Replies

How do you hook your line on the hook keep when you are not using your dropshot rod?

Do the after market ones work?

Thanks

On the standard u shape I took sidecutter and cut closes to the handle. This lets the line thru. Works good.

Yes, Triton_Mike. I bought 8 of them and then purchased one of the Harmonix rods they sell with one installed. Great product from Diane and Steve.

I put the hook in my hook holder on the side of the rod.  I have a rubberband on the but of my rod that holds the weight.  Works great.

I use one of the lure wraps that I have on board for travelling at the beginning and the end of the day. (Anything with trebles on it gets one for the ride, I've pulled too many hooks out of my car upholstery, lol)

Hook goes on the keeper and wrap the weight to the rod w/ lure wrap

Pretty much the same function as Gmans except you don't have to slide it up your rod butt like an elastic.

What is the fun of drop shotting if you aren't untangling the weight each time you pick up your rod?

Make an overhand knot with a 2"-3" loop below your hook where you want your weight to be.  Use the loop to attach your dropshot weight and when you are done, put the butt of your rod through the loop and reel it up.  Holds the weight better and still will break before your hook knot when snagged.
