Another "tell me what to buy" thread...

Featured Replies

So my pops mailed me a 200 visa gift card for my birthday and I decided to spend it all on tackle.  It would've been nice to know this was coming cause I just dropped 350 on two new mojo bass rods with daiwa reels, but whatever.  Anyway, I plan on just grabbin' an assortment of lures and what not and I'd like you to throw some suggestions at me.

By the way I've already decided on 100 *** so suggest anything else.

What confidence baits are you running low on?

What lure or technique do you want to learn this year?

Check your supply of fishing line. Is it low?

Answer those quesions and you have a good start.

I probably could use some jerk baits, I wouldn't mind a less expensive alternative to Pointers.

Jigs.  I know how and when to use them but I don't pull them out enough and I'm definitely not confident with them.

Im good on line, I picked up a couple spools of braid, a spool of flouro and a couple spools of Yozuri Hybrid when I bought those rod set ups the other day.

So when you buy your jigs you need to get several different ones in several different colors in a couple of different weights.

Living rubber skirts have a different action than silicon ones do. Get some of both.

Living rubber skirts should not be trimmed but silicon can be. If you want to know why just take a look at the action in a fish tank.

Get natural colors. Browns, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon for clear to stained water. Black, and Black and blue if you fish muddy or stained water. Trailers fall along the same line.

3/8oz and 1/2 oz are good starters. Go lighter if you are fishing for smallies or you want a slower fall.

My favorite jigs are:

1. Buckeye Mop Jig

2. Custom jig that I make (basically a Mop Jig with my own little twists)

3. O Nelly Arkey Jig (Great for skipping docks)

Thanks guys, this has been very helpful.  RW - a lot of what I'm going to grab is off your list.

If your going to buy tungesten..here is a website to save alot of cash

Bulktungsten.com

Grab a black Ish Phat frog perhaps, and a black spinnerbait with a single silver colorado blade

Also if you like fishing stick baits wacky style maybe get one of those wacky tools and some o-rings.

and some Gamakatsu finesse weedless hooks

Dats a lot of soft plastics! mmmmmmm, i would have bought new rods but u got that covered, try some new lures uve never tried before.

I just checked out the bulktungsten.com site that basspro96 referred to and there sold out of everything! must have really caught on.

I really like the Norman Razor Minnow JB, and it is about 1/3 the price of the LC.  It is 3/8oz and 4 1/2in and range is 3-5ft.
