Pinnacle Rods And Reels

Featured Replies

I have heard and seen some very good things about Pinnacle tackle products and I was basically wondering where I would be able to find them. I never buy rods without previously handling them, and because I am interested in the rod series, I would like to handle some. I am in the central Iowa area and almost no one around here carries them.

So does anyone in the area have a good place to look at them? Thanks ahead of time!

Walmart (around here at least) carries some Pinnacle stuff. I've never tried the higher end, if there even is any, but the lower end cheap stuff is exactly that: cheap. Crappola. Others may disagree and have different experiences, but all Pinnacle reels I've owned were garbage. Can't say I'm a fan of their golf balls either.

My Pinnacle spinning rod is my absolute favorite. I bought it without ever holding one and am planning on buying another. Don't know where to try one before you buy but I will say there high end stuff is really impressive.

Pinnacle has some nice high end stuff. They carry a stigma because they entered they market with their low end products. They have been in business for years making reels for other companies

Pinnacle is a sponsor. I also have been reading good things about their rods and reels, both spinning and baitcasting.. I've only handled 6 (out of 20 some) of my rods before buying. Only been disappointed in one. Guess I would agree, tho, that I am not as picky as many. :)

I have a DSG's store about 1-1/2 miles from my home, a Cabela's about a 35-40 minute drive down the interstate and a Walmart about 15 minutes away. If these 3 stores don't carry it, I don't get to handle it. :( My DSG's doesn't handle as much fishing gear as some apparently do.

Buying a rod without ever seeing it first is like getting married to a mail order bride, sometimes you're happy and sometimes you're not.

I handle everything before I buy it, most of the time putting my reel on. That goes just so far, you never know until you have caught fish to really evaluate your purchase.

It's been my experience with most big box stores that if you are unhappy with your rod purchase, returning it poses little problem. I would not take off the cellophane wrap until you know you want to keep it.

I am also one of those people who needs to see, and handle the rod and reel before buying them. You will get some great reviews here as they are a sponsor. Personally, I have never cared for any Pinnacle products, and would not chance a high dollar purchase without them being in the field for some time.

Again, I like to see good reviews, but I am very firm in trying out rods before I purchase them. For instance, St. Croix rods get excellent reviews and I cannot stand them due to improper balance with all of the reels I own, including the legend tournament rods.

I got my rod before becoming a mod. Loved it then. Just got off the river and caught 7 smallies , 1 lm and 2 cats on it.

I am a big fan of the Perfecta rods. Not a fan of any of the reels I've had. (Deadbolt, Platinum, Optimus X)
