Creatures on top

Featured Replies

Admittedly, I'm not much of a creature bait fisherman, as I have more confidence fishing the water column with other baits.  However, I'd like to add a creature bait to the box, that I can fish on top in the slop.  Considering the Rage Tail Space Monkey, the Zoom Super Brush Hog, the GYCB Kreature, and the Kriet Kreature.  Sure I could buy a pack of each, but just curious what you folks think.

Thx,

BC

yes to all of those and dont forget the beaver!!!

brush hogs work very nicely on top, but i would reccomend hardbaits too, such as zara spooks and jitterbugs, or hollow body frogs like the bronzeyes from spro

I've done very well with the GYCB Kreature. If conditions allow I fish it weightless or with as little weight as possible.

The Rage Tail Rooster and Eeliminator are two I'm

going to focus on this year. For tried and true:

me too!  Even though they came in late last season, and I haven't really had too much time to use the rooster, I already know it's going to be one of my most used baits in '10.

Im a huge fan of the beaver under any circumstances. i toss it all over the place! ive liked the space monkey tho!  havent landed any fish on it becasue its about the last thing i fish with. buts the actions great! ive even tossed it as a highspeed alternative to a horny toad when i want something alittle morecompact with more limbs and higher retrieve speeds! :) hope that helps.

Baby Brush Hog,and a Beaver.

Go with the big boy Brush hog.  Not a big fan of the GYCB Kreature in the slop..  They don't like to hold together very well.  The brush hog is durable and will flat catch em....

Regarding RT creature products for weightless top presentations, here are my preferences in order of most used in this manner:

1) Eeliminator

2) Space Monkey - pop off the front legs

3) Rage Hawg

4) Lobster

5) Craw

6) Smokin Rooster

All except the Eeliminator will work well with weighted hooks (keel Weights) for subsurface or wakebait swimming as well.

Thanks for the responses.

Big-O, why do you put the smokin rooster at the bottom of that list?

Mainly because it requires water above and below it's appendages to generate best action results. Not to say that it isn't productive in this presentation at certain times but my choices for top action results are from personal choice and experience in the waters that I commonly fish

Space Monkey, rigged upside down (belly out). Burn it.
