Do they make a lure that "glides" or "sweeps" side to side?

Featured Replies

I know they do for larger fish (musky), but do they make a lure that sweeps side to side when you jerk it for bass?

I use a Strike king 4-5" worm weightless, Texas Rigged and just twitch it barely with the light rod tip. I found it is light enough to just "float" along and each twitch sends it in a different direction. Thats how I caught my last 3 LMB this year

Send Randall a pm. He posted a video a couple years ago of a lure from Japan that would glide side to side just under the surface. I had the video saved on my old computer but it's long gone. I cant remember what that bait was called but it was awesome. I'll do some digging around as well.

The reason I ask is that my uncle had a lure he used in TN that REALLY darted side to side. Ive looked at videos of the ones rapala makes and they just aren't the same. If anyone has ever fished for big game with a "Manta", i'm looking for a smaller version of that.

The only muskie bait I can think of similar to the manta jerk bait is the old Suick sucker. They made a 4 or 5 inch version for bass. I don't know if it's still available.

From a soft plastic standpoint, try a Gary Yammamoto Fat Ika, it has the action you are looking for, and when rigged weightless a tantalizingly slow fall.
