Just curious what size wacky hook you guys would use on 3,4, and 5 inch senko?

Thanks I read those post a little while back. But recently couldn't find it while searching. Going fishing this weekend and wanted to use some 3in senkos wacky rigged and was going back n forth on the size. I figure with the cold water the small senkos might do the trick.

Gamakatsu makes a weedles wacky hook that takes the cake, at least for senkos anyway. I believe its called Weedless Wide-Gap Finesse. I use #2, most people use bigger but I guarantee you will get more bites with the #2.

He's talking about a 3 inch senko. I personally wouldnt wacky that because its so short I don't think it will have the all enticing wiggle on the fall. For my wacky rigs I use a zoom trick worm and a #2 octopus hook.

Ya it doesn't sound like a 3in would have a lot of wiggle but I saw 2 shows one with jarret edwards the other with J.P. Derose and they were throwing 3in senkos and the wiggle was pretty good so I'm gonna give it a try this weekend.

2010 will be my 7th. season with this hook. I have a lot of confidence in it and it will serve you well for the 4" - 6" size Senkos. I also crimp down the barbs on these hooks and doing so has yet to cost me a fish.

The 3" Senkos I fish only wacky rigged on my drop shot. There I use the Daiichi StandOut hooks, size #2.

For the 2" Senkos, I will either suspend it under a bobber on a standard drop shot hook or wacky rig it with a 1/16 oz. jig head.

Whatever hook you pick up, you might want to rig one up and throw in the tub to see the action. You'd be suprised by the difference in rate of fall and and general falling shape. I tend to stick with the sallest size hook I can. 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 have a tendency to pin the bait in a V during the fall, especially with smaller baits. I've found #2 allows for a more natural fall and wiggle.
