I dont know how many of you are from the NJ area. Let me tell you something- I am 51 years old and have never seen anything like this in my life. We were a direct hit-- Yea a few hurricans but nothing like this..We finally got power back on after 6 days. Total devastation here.Houses wiped off the face of the earth.Slept in the house the last few nights and it was in the low 40's BRRRR No heat -water-hot water -electricity- cant even get gas--NOTHING

I went outside my house at 1030 PM the night of the storm--90 MPH winds- It was scarey-I thought the house was going to explode or implode. There was no where to hide.

Looks like a war zone. We had damage but I went to see my brothers house down the shore and couldnt get there so I stoped to see the boardwalk-What boardwalk. I couldnt believe what it was like - We had major damage but some people lost everything. I want to than everyone for their many emails asking If we were ok. We will survive but please pray for the ones that need it most.Thank you to our Governor Chris C -The guy hasnt slept yet-Obama was here and left-he went campaigning- Our Governor is doing everything he can.

Ok its a long way back but we are back at work getting things together.

Take care

Yeah I'm in Manasquan, and I still don't have power back yet. Lots of houses damaged near me, mostly from falling trees. I have yet to go down to the beach because you cant get near it without ID proving you live there. But from what I heard its mostly gone. Its hard getting around cause you have to really conserve gas unless your lucky to find an open gas station, which then has 2+mile lines(Not joking). Most of the ponds I fish are near rivers, and the water came up so high they were eaten up by saltwater. I did manage to fish one pond and caught a small dink on a spinnerbait, so I hope they live to fight another day.

Yea, it does suck and my heart goes out to folk up there. We (Floridians) got hit pretty hard with Gene, Francis and the other *****. We were a week without power, thank goodness for my generator, gas and charcoal grills. I had to drive over 50 miles south just to get ice.

Wow! That's awful! But I'm glad you're on the road to recovery. I pray for those that have lost everything.

Lots of weird weather this year. Nebraska went from a 500-year flood to a drought for the ages in less 7 months.

Wishing everybody the best from NE.

Glad ya made it Bobby, looks bad up that way.

I think Glenn's disclaimer makes it obvious he was poking fun at the media not the storm

Bobby glad you're checking in to say you're ok

H8er, Glenn was joking. For the time I've been here I haven't see him say anything negative about events.

Now you know what the Southern along the Gulf guys have to take every single year several times a year.

So happy that you've finally got your power back! I know exactly how you feel. Up here in MA, exactly one year ago, we got clobbered with that "freak" snowstorm that killed our power for 6 days. It was hell. I am very disheartened with seeing the devastation done to all your homes down there. On top of loosing power, facing rebuilding is a daunting task. My family's prayers and best wishes go out to you. It will take time, but things will get better.

I guess the most important lesson is that you cannot rely on government to protect you, or help you out when tragedy strikes. You must become as self reliant as possible. Family & friends are everything.

I am happy for those who have come through that safely and best wishes for everyone's recovery. We have a been there, done that experience with hurricanes, but we haven't had to experience that kind of devastation with freezing cold added to it. I can't imagine. We had the sweltering heat, flooding, and electricity outages, long lines for gas, etc.

I know my next big investment would be a gas or propane powered alternate generator wired to the house.

prayers again for everyone up yonder.

Bobby, being from south Louisiana and now living in Virginia I have been where you are and believe me all will come back to the same level it was before the storms.

It will take time and money but you will survive.

As I tell the younger guys, you don't fool around with electricity or water. If you do you will lose, especially if you are in a boat. And you can see the power of water and wind and the destruction it can cause.

Good luck and please keep us posted on how things are going for the next few months.
