I don't know what makes these rods special, but you are welcome

Best new rod?

Zebco Snoopy rod. They are better than every other rod, appeal to the six and under crowd and are 1/57th the cost of a GLoomis NRX. I am not affiliated with Zebco but did read Charlie Brown comic strips as a kid.

Not true. I have a Sponge Bob and Barbie rod that would give your Snoopy rod a run for its money! Spooled both with Walmart premium floro, they can cast weightless banjo minnows a country mile!

Recently I was very impressed by a friends new rod, I used it for a while and I may just have to get one. It's an Okuma Cedros coastal rod, his was an 8' 10/20 mh spinning, I really liked the aluminum reel seats.

Calling Denali better than Loomis is a stretch. On what basis are they better? They use lower quality resins. They use, generally, lower quality guide sets, They use, generally, lower quality graphite sourcing. Every Denali that I've handled is also heavy, in most cases 3 ounces heavier than rods in the same price point. In one rod. That's a HUGE difference in weight for a rod that supposed to be in the upper end of a line. They're definitely far less crisp than a comparatively priced Loomis or Shimano, and they lack the overall fit, finish, and feel. In general they feel poorly built and finished, and lack in the sensitivity that I look for when I'm spending in excess of $200 on a rod.
