I'm looking for a new spinnerbait and shallow diving crankbait rod. Which would you recommend $120-$170. This will be paired with the new Lews BB-1 or Tournament pro.

I would recommend a Shimano rod, but that would be wrong to put a Lews on it, lol.

I like the Powell Endurance CB line up for this application. They have heavier powers in shorter lengths. I use the 6'9 MH/M for shallow diving cranks, but I also feel comfortable putting a spinnerbait on as well. I have it paired up with a Lews Tournament SS and I think its a nice combo.

You would love a used/on-sale Dobyns 705cb Glass Fast action. Its an amazing rod for cranking purposes. And is extremely versatile, it can handle jerkbaits, topwater, etc.

That being said, I heard the cranking powells do a fine job as well and can find some for pretty cheap.

I agree!  And.....consider the Dobyns 704 CB Glass!  I just got mine used off this board and it is a WINNER!  Put a TD-Z on it and it's perfect for medium cranks and spinners.

Take a look at the Denali Jadewood series of cranking rods. They are in the $100 range and are extremely nice rods for that price point.  I use the 7' Med. and it does everything I need, but I don't do a huge amount of cranking.  It has a very small blank and is lightweight. You could probably use these rods for spinnerbaits, but I use the Denali Rosewood Spinnerbait rod for that. The Jadewood series has a spinnerbait rod, but I prefer the longer length and heavier action of the Rosewood model. Both models come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
