a ridiculous jig question

Featured Replies

when fishing a chunk on a jig which side do you put up.  one side is flat and one side has an ridge..  i actually do it two different ways depending on if im using a paca style or traditional style.  i do this basically because that is the way i rigged pork chunks when i started but the paca style chunks have eyes that i face up for no real reason.

ive accidentally rigged them the oposite way and caught fish just fine but am curious if it matters or if you guys always do it one way or the other

this may make no sense to anyone but im havign a hard time explaining what i mean.

I mostly put them on with the completely flat part down.  Reason is because of the way I typically rig them.  It really doesnt matter I dont think

When I use a pork chunk I always rig it flat side up. When the chunk starts to get worn the ridge side will get a little white. This little bit of white flash when you lift the jig sometimes will produce a reaction  bite..

when i use pork i always rig it flat side up as well and when i use a plastic chunk i do the same, although i rig the craw or paca style the opposite way.  im curious if anyone thinks it makes any difference really with plastic chunks, although my guess is that it does not really

Flat side up for me as well.

Not really a rediculous question, but maybe a rediculous answer, because Bill Dance said so. No really ;D, back when I first started using jigs and pork that's how he rigged them on one of his shows. Don't use pork anymore, but still rig soft plastics the same way...

Flat side up.

The only thing is if you are skipping I thread the chunk on the hook if not once three the meat.

After all that rambling about BD saying so, I forgot to say flat side up! I think the Chronically Bewildered Syndrome (CBS so called among those afflicted with this chronic and rapidly advancing disease :'() must have kicked in about that time. Sympathy is much appreciated but fishing gear is what I really need ;D...
