Lowrance Elite 5X Dsi

Featured Replies

Just ordered the Lowrance Elite 5X DSI color fishfinder.  It's crazy the price ranges I found on this unit. They varied from $549.00 down to $289.00.....Guess which one I bought? Even BPS, Cabelas and TW were high compared to the $289.00. The $289.00 also had free shipping. And it is a legitimate source. (I have ordered from them before)  It pays to look around. I can't wait to actually see some of the detailed structure that I have been missing. Do any of you guys have this unit? If so, what do you think of it?

Where did you find this deal?

I looked at it heavy for awhile but the lack of GPS functionality turned me away. I spend a lot of time with mapping software for hunting and fishing. When I mark a box thats 20ft off the shoreline in winter I want to know exactly where it is come time to gamble my money.

I had it for half a season and sold it. you have to keep moving to get good readings and it's better suited for hard structure, foundations, bridge pilings, etc. it's just about useless for drop shotting. the new Elite 7 has the DSI and 2D. I found myself really missing the 2D.

I agree.

The DSI units are fine for riding around looking for stuff, but are worthless for fishing.

If you have a traditional 2D sonar unit, they are good companion units.

For a Lowrance Down Scan unit, the Elite-7 HDI is the way to go.

Humminbird has about 18 units ( discontinued and new models) that do Down Imaging and 2D sonar.

Yeah I have the elite 5 dsi and it is killer lookin at brush and rocks, but fish are not so easy to see... And I paid bps price which is well over 289 which really sucks.
