Yup, and according to what I'm hearing, it'll be going on for several months. Many stores are doing what they can to ensure that customers can get ammo by limiting ammo purchases to one box per caliber (Academy Sports) or three boxes total (some Walmart stores). It appears to be working as I was able to pick up a couple boxes of ammo from Walmart this afternoon. It wasn't quite what I was looking for (never thought I'd be excited to buy Tula ammo), but it ought to be good enough to punch holes in paper.

Walmart announced this morning or late last night that they would still be selling ammunition, but that they would limiting sales to 3 boxes per customer per day.

LOL, we'll see about that.

It's a little annoying.  I never run out of ammo so I can just wait this whole supply thing out but really...  People have been saying "thyre gunna take my guns" for 30 years. Foolish if you ask me to be stocking up now... Too many people who shoot once a year out buying ammo bc they heard on TV that they wont be able to tomorrow... well its tomorrow and you can still buy ammo

I have noticed that some of the places on the web are starting to see their supply levels increase so they are beginning to sell again.  It went from seeing nothing to seeing only large quantities to finally seeing smaller quantities.  The prices are still high, but I suspect they will start to come down in the next few months.  Panic has been good for the gun industry.

Well, I can confirm the three box limit and their unwavering dedication to it.

 

Bought three yesterday and there were only two boxes left of 223. They absolutely WOULD NOT sell it to me right then.

You need a disguise, like a fake beard or something.

Dick's Sporting Goods is going to three box limits now as well

I went to Gander yesterday before going to work because a little birdy told me they got a shipment of ammo.
