Hard Jerkbaits

Featured Replies

What color hard jerkbaits do you guys like? I'm thinking of picking up some lc pointers or x-raps for smallies and some largemouth. Thanks.

For those x-raps I like using olive green, and silver/blue as well as some with gold in it.  As for the pointers, I use ghost minnow and a bluegill looking pattern, but forgot the pattern, at least it looks like a bluegill to me.

As with most moving baits I like something with a white/silver belly and a dark (black/blue/green/brown) back.

LC..Aurora Black, Ghost Minnow, Chartruese Shad..those are probably the most popular color, although I have caught plenty on maany other colors. I believe Cadence, not color is much more important.

I use x-raps and lc pointers and I really like the ghost colored pointer or the metallic finish ones depending on conditions. A pointer makes up 2/3 of my jerkbait fish total at least. I like the way the x-raps look and fish, just dont get the results of a lc pointer.

Off topic,sorry.

Francho, what the heck is that lure in the bottom left corner?? :-?

My personal favorite is the clown color for the Rapala X-rap. I fish in murkier waters, so it's the obvious choice.

Some weird Luhr-Jenson thing.  Smallies like it.

the only color i have tried is the rainbow trout and in 2 outings using it only about 1/4 of the time out i caught 5 fish on it

For jerkbait colors I prefer baby bass, perch colors, gold black, firetiger, olive green, and the hot orange colors. In shad waters I do like silver black and silver blue, or natural shad colors. Like most lures it all depends on water clarity and forage, and to a lesser extent sometimes you have to use a color the fish haven't seen as much or aren't conditioned to.

Hey Francho,

What is that bait on the bottom row, third over from the right, and how deep does it get? I'm looking for a lure that I can work in the 10 ft water column, and fish in my lake love shiny blue baits.

Pointer DD.  It'll do that for you, if you give a few straight, steady cranks to get to depth.

The past few years I've fished Pointers more than all the other brands put together and my best color has been Table Rock Shad.
