Power Drive V2 Vs Terrova

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting one of these units and will probably have to start out with the base model and add the i-pilot as I get the money.  What I am trying to figure out is why the Terrova is more when the base models basically do the same thing.  The only real differences I see are the way it is stowed/deployed, pedal is nicer, and you can use the pedal with the co-pilot.  Are there other things that make you prefer one over the other?  Thanks for your help.

Get the terrova. I have the powerdrive V2...while it does what it should, I'd rather the Terrova hands down.  I believe you can upgrade Terrova further than a PowerDrive as well.

I am a firm believer of spending the most you can on trolling motors that your pocket and boat will allow. It makes fishing so much more productive when you have a solid, great working trolling motor. I wish they weren't so d**n expensive...I'd really like to upgrade mine.

If you feel it does what it should why do you feel you would go with the Terrova hands down?  Just wondering....thanks for your thoughts.

The powerdrive pedal is crap. I have the V2 w/ iPilot which is hand controlled only. The V2 max thrust is 70lbs @ 24v, while the Terrova max thrust is 101lbs @ 36v. The iPilot Terrova can be run with the pedal or hand control. I don't believe there is much more difference than that, but I could be wrong.

I've heard that the Terrova is a more heavy duty unit (shaft, motor housing etc.) than the V2.  That could be just hear say though...

Pretty much everything he said. However, my PowerDrive V2 is a bit older and doesn't have some of the capabilities the new ones do so my mistake for jumping the gun. But still the Terrova is the better choice in my opinion. It seems quieter to me as well. Honestly, the pedal alone would be a deciding factor because the P.O.S one that comes with the Powerdrive will be replaced more than once. I'm on my second one in 3 years.

Thanks everybody for your help on this.  After all that I have read and the positive and negatives of both to me it does seem that the Terrova is a better choice and worth the extra money.  Would be nice to have the I-Pilot right off the bat, but would rather have a motor that I will be happy with for the next 10 years.  Guess I will have to save up for next year to add I-Pilot.  Tight lines!!

Good choice. I chose Terrova also. Very happy I did. I didn't like the v2 pedal either.
