Two Questions One Topic

Featured Replies

First question: just bought a Plano spinnerbait organizer. To lock the spinnerbaits into place, the wire with the blades on it must be bent to fit in the lock. Will this cause permanent damage to the wire or will it reshape its self when I take it out.

Second question: just bought mustad kvd elite trebles 2x short 1x strong in 4 and 6 sizes. What hard baits are these ideal for? Will they be efficient in top water lures?

I use the same boxes and have never had any problems.

I don't use that brand of trebles, but sizes 4 and 6 are on the vast majority of hard baits that I use, including topwaters.

Those hooks can be use on really any hard bait as long as you match the hook size to the lure without altering the action in a way it won't perform correctly. size 2 is another good size to have as well along with 4 and 6 trebles.

as for the case, i've used it and didn't experience the issue you have.

I have used both products you have listed. The Plano box you mentioned has held my spinnerbaits for the better part of a year with absolutely no issues. You will love the trebles, and due to the short shank design they don't tangle. I have size fours on some of my Sammy's, as well as XCalibur rattle baits belly hooks, with a smaller size on the rear. They are great hooks, sharp and they stay that way, as well as strong.

Personally......I use the #4's on KVD 1.5's, and 1/2 oz Redeye Shads, the #6's on KVD 1.0's, and 1/4 oz Redeye shads, and I mix with #4 on the front, and a #6 on the rear of SK 3xd's

My only set rule regarding replacement of trebles is 3x in freshwater and 4 x in saltwater, I'm not fussy on brand.  I only replace my hooks when they really need it, even having only 2 hooks left on the treb is fine, some people around here will cut one of the hooks off.  I keep in my inventory all sizes from #6 to 3/0 and I do experiment with different sizes than was originally on the lure.  For spoons don't overlook using a siwash.
