Still iced in here guys. I am going to flip a jig into pads more this year as one of my goals. I am going to get a "Bass Mojo" MH rod. Just was wondering if I should get the 7 foot or the 6.5 foot? I have a 7 foot bass mojo medium for plastics and love it. For the price you can't beat it. Any info. Would be great.

If your going to flip I would go with the longer rod.  If your gonna get a mojo, they make a 7'6" MH that would be my choice. 

A tip: don't get a mojo. Go for a 7' MH abu garcia veritas. Way better for the price. I have held both at BPS and played with them a bit. The veritas is lighter and has more backbone, but it's $20 cheaper.

The 7' should be just fine. You dont really need to go longer for pitching/flipping, its more what you are comfortable with.

The 7MH should be just fine and will be so much more than just a jig rod. Keep in mind that if the cover/pads is really thick or you are planning to throw heavier jigs, a heavy action rod is a good idea.

I personally prefer a 7'6" rod for pitchin/flipping but like LGM Gambler said, its all what you are comfortable with. St. Croix is a good company.

The mojos are a great rod i use the 6,6 jig and worm rod and flip and pitch with it all the time. plus it has a perfect tip and all the sensitivity and quality of a st croix rod

I used the 7' MH Mojo for pitching for a couple years before up grading to a LTB and it worked just fine for pitching. The longer rod will help you lift the fish up out of the weeds faster and picks up more line when you set the hook.

You. Want a rod that will handle the biggest bass you may catch in the cover you plan to fish.

If you catch 2 1/2 to 3 lb bass than medium hvy 7' rod for pitching, not flipping, may work.

Why not look at the Rage series 7' 4" or 7'11" HMF then if you hook a 6 to 8 lb bass you may have a chance to land it.

IMO, I would get a heavy action for fishing lilypads.  I know braid will cut through them, but I feel better with H action rod.

gotta go with the big stuff. Im not much on the mojo's, but whatever you get, make sure it's got the power to get them out of there.

To flip you need a longer rod and if the cover is thick you should move up to a heavy power. I often fish pads with a 6'10" heavy but I'm roll casting from 30 feet away because of clear water but flipping is a long rod technique.

Really what you need to consider is what feels comfortable to you.

I personally use a 6'11" Heavy All Star rod.

 

Pay attention to the handle. Sometimes the handles on the 7' are much longer than the 6 1/2' so

you don't really gain a lot.

 

I would definately look at a Heavy rod before you purchase a Medium Heavy. You might be a lot happier.
