Favorite 3.5" Tube?

Featured Replies

Whats everybody's favorite brand 3.5-4" tube?  Want to give tubes a good  effort this year and wondering what brand you guys like the most.  I'm mostly looking at how flexible the tentacles are, those seem to be the best from what i've found.

3.5" Strike King Coffee Tube - Crazy Craw color. I just started using tubes last year and I've had the best luck with these.

ISG does make a fantastic tube.  Nothing in the 3.5" size yet.  The Intimidator and Dream tubes are 4", and the Mini Intimidator is 2.75".   8-)

As for the OP, My best producing 3.5" tube has been YUM's Vibra King finesse tube.

There's a couple of west coast companies that produce some really nice tubes,  Dry Creek Outfitters and Outlaw Baits.  Outlaw has a color, Green Ugly that just works all the time.  Dry Creek has a two tone " Buzzard Snot " color that, at times, just whacks the smallies. They did have a promo where they would send you a product sample pack at no cost.  ;) Happy tuben

I like using all tubes.  But my favorite is probably the YUM tubes in black and blue and the Strike King Coffee scent tubes in the same color.

I also really like to use the Owner phantom tube hooks they work very well for giving the tubes a nice steady fall and can also give them a very nice erratic action when popped and swam back at a quick pace.

Pics is of the first fish of the year, caught on a Strike King Coffee scent tube.

Later, ;)

I've never fished a tube I didn't like! That being said, I like the Yum Vibra-Tube, as well as the original gitzits. It's all in the presentation more than in the make - IMO.

My favorite tube is the old SK Pro-Model in Green Pumpkin blue tail.  I'm rapidly running out of them, however.

I don't think it really matters what brand you get. A tube has no inherent action. Any "action" is dependent upon the rigging method and the movement imparted by the angler.

A T-rigged tube falls differently than a tube rigged with an internal jighead. A T-rigged tube, with internal weighting falls somewhere between those two methods.

I tend to use an Owner Rig-n hook, 3/0, with HP internal weights, most of the time. The Rig-n hook has a nice wide gap, but is short enough for all but the shortest tubes. Sticky sharp, too.

I jusr sorted out my tube bag, and I think I have more Zoom tubes than any other brand. They're cheap and effective. Also have Strike King, Berkley, Mizmo, Yum, and some others I don't recognize.

BPS has a kit, in a 3600 size box, that goes on sale every year. I think they are Strike King tubes. They are wider for their length than most, and appear to be about 50%salt/50% plastic. I've bought several of those kits over the years, and done well with them. Very cost effective.

Gitzit Fat Tournament Tubes in #4 (Brown, looks more green to me) They wok great, esp in the New River, and catch fish when nothing else will....I like to fish them with Bass Pro EZ Tube Weights.  I agree with the above post though...I think the action comes from you (and a little from the current, etc.) I fish these because they don't have a lot of action and scoot like a crawdad.  They are probably not normally considered a finesse bait, but that's how I use them!

I like the 3.5" gitizits, bass pro tender tubes, and the strike kings. I usually use motoroil, black/blue flake, white, chartreuse, and watermelon.

BPS tournament series in mardi gras & smokin bluegill colors.  lites 'em up.
