Looking to go out fishing for Bass once the weather starts to warm up.. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go near State college,PA

have you googled areas to fish around there? i usually look at google maps and look for bodies of water...  looking near you bald eagle state park looks good or walker lake, faylor lake and or course raystown lake is a big one

Sayer's is a decent lake for little dinks.  They probably have it drained right now .... Not sure if you trout fish at all, but there are Class A trout streams in that area.

 

Raystown is a good hike from State, but worth it and you can catch bigger bass there.

Sayers had a massive fish kill five years ago. The bass caught a virus and we lost most of the big fish. There are still lots of 5+lb fish in sayers and its getting better every year. Our club is doing a structure project at Sayers maybe as early as next week. The fish commission came to our meeting last week and said that sayers has the best bass recruitment of any inland lake in pa. It just lacks habitat. Almost everything is man made structure.

Forget the bass.....Get a fly rod and fish some of the best and most historic spring creeks in the country instead.  Way more challenging than bass fishing and you never need a boat

Grew up fishing the limestone streams of Central PA. Very good place to learn. Can be rewarding, confusing and humbling all in the same day. LOL

 

That's probably why I didnt pick up bass fishing until I moved to South Central PA.
