Snaps Which Ones?

Featured Replies

I wanna get some snaps to have for my crank baits and other treble hooks baits. What is a good brand I obviously want to get some good ones so I don't loose any $8-$9 baits. Berkley Crosslocks were the only thing that came up in my search whats some other ones? I am gonna be making a *** order here soon ;)

I've never lost a fish so far due to snap failure, however this year I'm trying some saltwater grade snaps that I picked up from BPS for a little extra reasurance.

Luhr Jensen Duo-Lock Snaps

Price: 1.99

The Luhr Jensen Duo Lock Snap is ideal when a quick bait change is needed. The Duo Lock Snap also has a much larger hanging area than most other snaps which will allow the bait to swing freely for a natural presentation.

12 pack

These are very good quality. The 30lb one is plenty.

The Berkleys are very good. I dont see any reason to deviate.

I only use crossloks in sizes 1 and 3. Never had one break. The theory is that they tighten themselves as pressure is applied and it seems right. Also, no outward wire to grab weeds as in some other types of snaps.

I use Rosco Duolock snaps in black which are made by Sampo.

Size 51 and 52 depending on bait and line test.

Never had one fail.

Stick with the CrossLocks......they are a far more secure design than any duo-lock.

Berkley makes a good one.

Owner makes the strongest one I've ever used, but it's hard on the fingers.

The other good thing about the cross-locks is that you can use a small enough snap to match up well with lightweight balsa cranks, and still retain the strength.

I can pull apart duo-locks of similar size simply pulling the knot on 12 lb. CXX.
