Which Reel To Buy?

Featured Replies

I can't decide between the revo s and citica. Obviously both are the same price. This will be paired with a veritas rod for soft plastics.

Anyone have both that can give some input?

You'll get responses from both sides of the fence (Shimano, Abu). Both are good reels with plenty of fans.

So let me suggest the Diawa Lexa!!  :eyebrows:

I just got the Revo tthat I am going to pair with a veritas, actually. I have both a citica and a Revo, I prefer the revo. I don't think you can go wrong either way though.  Go with your gut

Yep only you can make that decision.

Do you live near a tackle shop or store like BPS or Cabelas?  The reason I ask is that if you take the rod you plan on throwing the reel on into the store with you, most stores will let you take a reel out of the box and mount it.  This way you can get a better feel for the reel in your palm and see if you like the weight as well as the size, feel, etc.

I have both I vote revo also plus them new revo3 S looks sexy on the vertas

I'd say both are of the same quality.  Might give Shimano a slight edge due to looks, but that's personal preference really.

Thanks for the replys. Ill have to check out the Lexa also. Local shop carries all three. I do like the looks of the revo and the veritas though.

I would step up to the revo sx just because how much lighter they are then the revo s,citca,or lexa. If you shop around you can get a sx for almost what a revo s msrp price is.

I have both on my bench right now.  The S might be a little smoother and more refined, but the Citica has beefier internals, especially with regards to the clutch mechanism.  They perform equally as well, and I actually like the centrifugal brakes on the lower S Revo over their higher end reels.  Can't go wrong either way, though I would spend a tiny bit more on a Lexa - you get refinement and beefy internals on that reel.

Thanks j francho. That's an interesting point about the internals. Never gave that a whole lot of thought. Maybe a worth while 10 dollar expense in the long run. Ill have to head to the tackle shop and check them out.
