Paca Craw Trick

Featured Replies

Have you guys heard of anyone putting small pieces of alkaseltzer into these to produce bubbles? I was told by someone that this trick is killer. Gonna try it out and see what happens.

I tried this with tube baits with limited success. Some guys swear by this when dead sticking any type of tube style bait.  No reason it shouldn't work with Paca Craws.

A great way to rig a Paca Craw for this technique is using the Neko Rig or a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG Gammy and an egg weight.  You basically insert a 1/4 oz egg weight into the tail section and shove it all the way in, insert your fizz tab, than rig the hook so that the hook point is skinned at the tail and the eye of the hook comes through the opening of the craw at the top.  This works great when sight casting, flipping into pockets or vertical dropping alongside standing timber.

This will give the craw a pinchers up and flared look.  Like this.....

Try sticking a piece of foam in the open "nose" part and C-rigging the bait. Shhh....

That's a neat little rig.

I did this last year and it worked, and it was REAL good at night= I fished the Tiny Paca craw or the big chunks on a A-Rig and crawl it on the bottom in deep water or outside of weedlines, talk about getting your arm broke!!  I fish them on a small Mustad weighted hook and I spread out the arms to make them more flat. It pays to think out side the box and try something different. This is a KILLER!

Paca craws on an A-rig or a C-rig?

Thanks guys. I will be giving this a try this year.

So people mention foam...how well would the yellow foam ear plugs work? I suppose you could trim the ear plugs, roll em between your fingers to make em nice and small and then insert them into the bait allowing them to expand and conform to the shape of the inside of the bait. The ear plugs could be a great way to hold scent as well.Thoughts?

what about pop rocks. Ive been looking online for homemade pop rocks recipes. instead of adding a fruity flavor I would try garlic. Wouldnt that be awesome?

ive been thinking of it for a few weeks now. Ive read a few recipes but everyone i read, half of the comments say the recipe doesnt work. Im gonna try it in a week or two and i will try to update for you

IIRC from over 30 years ago, pop rocks only last a few seconds.

Twin tailed hula grub (no salt) is a favorite C-rig bait for me. Looks like a lil sunfish swimming along.
