Hey guys just purchased this rod a few days ago, felt great in the store balanced well with my Lews tp but tried it out on my buddies lake today and felt as though it had no sensitivity, I mean the bottom is all grass and not much to feel besides that but so far I'm not impressed at all, I guess what I'm asking is if it could just be the lake or if I should return it for something else and what that should be?

I heard a lot of reviews say the Savvy Series aren't good for sensitivity.  Most say go up to the Champion Series, so if you can I'd return it and go up a level. 

I just don't have the money to go up to the champion, and no places around here sell Powells, which I would love to try. Everyone says the savvy is great, maybe I just have to use it a bit more to get the feel for it, or tie on some braid to help out

I'm a big Dobyn's fan. With that said, the savvy line is not a line up of rods I would use for any sort of bottom contact baits. I use all champ extremes for those purposes. The 2 savvy's I do use though are the 735c for frogs and 733c for northern swim jigs/spinnerbaits. Both are great at those purposes.  You can find the champion line for less than 200 at times during 20% off sales. I'd recommend trying that.

I am using the rod for swim jigs but also Texas rigs and I feel that is where it falls short,

I only own Champions. I would say make the move to the champion lineup for bottom contact baits. Are you using tungsten bullet weights?

the rod will definitely fall short in the sensitivity you are wanting for bottom contact tjigs/jigs. I love doybns but there are lots of better rods in the Savvy price range. Phenix makes a great rod in that price range. If you are dead set on keeping the rod throwing some braid on it will help.

I think im going to keep the rod and use it as a frog rod and swim jigs, and try to find a new Texas rig rod, do you guys have any recommendations

In that same price range the phenix recon2 or m1 715 has a great following and fishes well above its price point. Powell 734 would be a good choice as well. Never used a powell but lots of people on here swear by them.  Although the following may be out of your price range, the dobyns champion extreme 744/745 is a thing of beauty. I love them for jigs/trigs.

How much money you wanting to spend? I got my Dobyn's Extreme for $275.00, my Irod Air for $150.00, and my veritas for $99.00. All are awesome. Extreme is more for t rigged baits, the Irod Air is Heavy Xfast and is the lightest rod I have ever felt, and the Veritas is 7'10" used for flipping the big stuff. I love them all and can feel almost everything on them.

What was your line and lure set up when u tested the rod.

On a side note you really arent looking for bottom contact in a swim jig. 

For T-rigs you will hard pressed to find a better rod than the Powell Endurance 714CEF.  The Powell Max 704CEF is a great trig rod too!  I also use a Phenix Recon 764 and it is a fine rod too, but I would lean towards the Powell strictly for t-rigs.
