New to texas rigging but I like the concept... I want to add this tactic to my fishing arsenal, any fav baits you guys have...

 

My thoughts were the culprit incredit craw, rage craw, rage thumper, rage anaconda....

 

Also the setup I plan on using is a 7' medium with a 6:3:1 reel 65lbs braid... How does that sound?

I love using a T-Rig. I have 2 set-ups that I use. A Chronarch 50E on a 7' MH-xf Crucial for heavy T-rigs (3/8 +) and a Chronarch 50E on a 7'MH-f Crucial for lighter T-rigs (sub 3/8). I use 50# braid on the heavy set up and just switched to 12# Yo-Zuri for the lighter stuff.

 

I prefer to throw Creature baits (brush hogs, chigger craw, sweet beavers, havoc stuff) on the heavy set-up and lizards and worms on the lighter set-up.

I fish texas rig 75% of the time, my main setup is a MH/F Carbonlite with a 40 series President XT and 10 pound Sufix Seige. My personal favorites are Grande Bass rattlesnakes, 7" (Culprit their smaller worms have more ribbon) and 10" (Gambler best action/colors/plastic) ribbon tail worms(which I hated when I started LOL), lizards with 1/16 to 1/8 oz bullet weights. The rattlesnakes also work well on a belly weighted hook and weightless too. I throw flukes, trick worms and senkos weightless T-rig 95% of the time, ocasionally I will put a weight on a trick worm.The incredi craws are pretty good, you can take the ribbons off and work it a few different ways for several different actions. I have the 3.5" and would recommend getting the 4" because my only complaint is you need a smaller 2/0 or 3/0 EWG or a straight shank flipping hook would work better for the smaller size. I also like the zoom ultra vibe craws on a small EWG or shakey head and they last like 20 fish.  Also check out Power Team Lures Texas rig jig, it is on my list to purchase. I want to get into some creature baits this year myself as I slowly build my T-rig plastic collection.

I like to throw big finesse worms (Netbait Super T Mac, Zman 7" finesse WormZ), big ribbontails (10" Zman Sawtail worm, 12" Mag Ol' Monster), and creatures/craws on them. I will also t-rig a senko or a small finesse worm when the bite is tough and snags are an issue.

You can fish just about anything on a T-rig.The ones I like to fish are= brush Hogs,lizards,flukes,tubes,beavers,but the ones I like the most are the Netbait C-Mac and the baby Paca Craw.The C-Mac is a ribbon tail and i fish them up to 15 in.worms.

A Texas rigged Skirt & Plastic combo can be really deadly.

 

Fish it deep, fish it shallow, fish it in any cover or fish it in open water; you're only limited by your own imagination. (and the size of the weight)

Oh, i forgot my rod set-up= Well, I have about 5 rods set-up with the T-rig with different weights and hook size's.Here are some that I use= G-Loomis 7FT.Mh,with a Quantum PT BC, Carrot stix 7'3" MH with a Pflueger Supreme BC,Veritas 7ft. MH with a BPS PQ,=BPS Jonny Morris 7ft. Mh with a Shimano Ciica BC,and a spinning Carrot Stix 7ft.M with a Shimano Stradic. I fish fluorocarbon on the BC 12 to 15 lb. and the spinning 8 lb.!

umm brush hog, ribbontail worm, brush hog, 10" worm, brush hog, space monkey, and did i mention a brush hog?

My standard T-rig set up is with a tempered glass faceted 7mm or 8 mm bead, painted Top Brass bullet weigh 3/16 or 1/4 oz owner 5103 size 3/0 to 5/0, 8 to 14 lb FC line, 3 or 4 power 6'10" worm/ jig rod, Ardent or Daiwa reels depending on the line, weight and soft plastic combination.

I fish hand poured soft plastic worm from 6" to 16" and a variety of creatures on this rig in water from 1' to 40'

Next to jig a T-rig versitle for year around presentations.

I like to throw smaller size baits, like super hogs, and finesse worms around dense cover like a fallen tree or heavy slop.  IMO, the smaller size of the bait lets me work it through the cover without hanging up.  I throw the 10" - 12' worms and big bulky plastics around bottom structure, like creek beds, or deep holes.

That is a sweet combo A-Jay!!! Like it a lot...

My personal favorite way to fish a t-rig, is pitching/flipping to visible targets with a tube, craw, or creature bait.
