Depends on where you're fishing, but a spinnerbait can help you cover water and find fish. Jigs work all year long. Good luck!

NorthStar "new gill" original swim jig hands down is my top producer in the spring. I also have really good success throwing jaerkbaits (rouges, pointers, etc) at a slow to fast retrieve, depending on the water temps.

 

The way I look at it is in the spring I like to throw smaller profile baits because of the new born gills/perch swimming around, and larger profile in the fall as they grow up.

Jerkbaits, Red Eye Shad, The Rig and last Sunday, NorthStar Original Swim Jig/ RageTail Shellcracker.

i wouldnt leave the dock without a suspending Rogue, a spinnerbait, a hair jig and a regular jig this time of year. 

I personally would have a Jerkbait, a Jig, and either a lipless crank or a squarebill tied on, depending on the cover at hand. 

Jerkbaits, lipless cranks, football jigs, and dropshot

T-rig a tube.  C-rig a craw.  Finesse jigs. 

Folks here pretty much covered everything, and I would like to add baby rage craw on the list. If swim jig or cranks are not getting them, then drag a craw will get their attention.

For example: I went fishing yesterday, and the water temp had dropped a few degrees thanks to a thunderstorm. The bass had moved out of the shallows and were at the middle of the deepest drop-offs I could find. I caught them by fishing a swim jig. (Bank fishing)

Find the bass, figure out their mood, and pick a presentation. If you catch a few fish, change to the same bait in a different color to see if they have any preference. (I started with a shad color swim jig then switched to a bluegill color, and every bass on the bluegill color choked it.)

This is my first spring bass fishing and I've been crushing them on spinnerbaits.  Small ones have been catching more fish but larger ones have been catching bigger ones.  I've been using sexy shad, white, red and chartreuse.
