Daiwa Lexa

Featured Replies

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 100 model.  Anyone have any experience with this or the 300 model?

No but TackleTour just did a review of the 100. They seemed to like it for the price.

OOppps.....somebody beat me to it. LOL

Talk to Darren, he has nothing but good things to say.

I posted asking about this reel once before. After a lot of replies I basically had equal positive and negative posts from users. I've read a good bit of negative stuff online so I wanted to ask about it first. I really wanted first hand experience with people who owned this and Lews reels but only one user owns both. It was basically a draw at that point. So I decided not to but one yet. Today I actually bought one since my local shop had it in the case and sold it to me for $100. I spooled it with the Tuff-line #20 sample I got a few weeks ago. I fished with it for 2hrs using a 1/4oz jig and a 1/2oz jika rig. It's surprisingly smaller in profile then I had imagined. It balanced great on my Falcon Bucoo micro 6'10. It's also easy to dial in and cast fairly well. I had a cross wind so I wasn't bombing anything but for the little time I fished with it I did like it. I can't speak on longevity obviously but for $100 it wasn't a bad buy so far. Time will tell.

It's a solid reel that should last you a long time if you don't plan on throwing a lot of light stuff with it.

TW did a great review, fair from a perspective much broader than mine, considering I only fish a few BCs. But I can say the Lexa is my favorite. It is palmable, easily adjusted, can throw light weights, has more than enough drag, built like a tank, weighs less than a tank...

Paired with a Premier M 6'6" rod, I do have a rod balancing kit on the butt end which brings me a slightly tip-lite combo, which I prefer.

For me, personally, the Lexa was the answer I was looking for to get a quality BC w/o breaking the bank. These days I'd rather "break my bank" on a rod than a reel especially with Lexa BC and spinning reels out there. I'm sold. Have one of both now and am super happy.
