What size hook should I use when using a drop shot setup for bass?

Depends on size of bait. I use hooks from 2 to 2/0 for nose hooking and go up to 5/0 for texas riggind a bubba shot.

X2. I use a #2 VMC spin shot hook for baits like a finesse or trick worm, Strike King dream shot etc.

For a rage craw or larger, I go with a 4/0 Mustad ultra lock hook.

i use size 1 & 2, works great for nose hooking roboworms and other 4-1/2 inch ds baits.

 I use #6 to 1/0 Owner Mosquitos depending on the bait, but I also have at least 3 dropshot rods rigged on the deck so I don't have to change hooks to change baits.

I use #2 mostly, but I'll occasionally use #1 when I go bigger.

I try to keep it simple.  

 

#1 SpinShot for lighter lures (dream shot, z drop, roboworms)

3/0 EWG & 4/0 EWG Spinshot for larger worms.  (Trick worms, senko, lizards etc.)

Depends on your bait and how you decide to rig it.

 

I use as small as a #4 for nose hooking tiny soft plastics, but a good starting point would be a # 2 or 1 dropshot hook. Larger EWG hooks can be used for bigger baits and heavier line.

you can use an size you like, i use a variety of styles too...

One warning with the thicker EWG hooks. If you are fishing a true dropshot rod, you will have some serious problems embedding such a heavy wire hook. I go with #1 or #2 VMC spinshot hooks with 4# mono down to the dropshot weight so if I get snagged I only lose the weight. This is also primarily fishing 1/8oz-3/16oz dropshots

For the longest time, I used 2/0 mosquito hooks, 2/0 Owner Downshots and haven't had problems.

I don't know what the impulse was, but I started to buy size 1, 2, 1/0 hooks for this season. Might be less for the fish to see, harder for them to throw the hooks. Let's hope it works for the better and I don't have to dump all these hooks to go back to my 2/0 hooks.
