I'm going out evening to night time and wondering what's a good lure for when it's dark out? Thanks in advance for suggestions!!

I'll pick one up on way at gander mountain and give it a shot!! Thanks and not only that always heard positive things bout jitterbug just never owned one or fished one.

black 3/8 or 1/2 oz. spinnerbait, black #4 blade and black skirt, don't forget, use a trailer hook, can't go wrong with this setup, good luck let us know how you do.  361ranger.

for me, its either a black jitterbug or a black buzzbait retrieved very slowly.

I've been tearin' um up lately on anything topwawter. Poppers, Buzzbaits, Horny Toads. They've been hitting black and white lures like crazy.

We have had good luck recently with 3/8 ounce black/blue jig with blue twin tail trailer or black grub trailer. Brown jigs hooked up also.   

10" Thumper and/or Anaconda w/steel clapper or glass bead under Tungsten, Jig'n'Lobster w/rattle, C rigged Eeliminator w/clapper and or glass bead.

All of the above are above average profile, move water, and make some noise during any movement.

Some underestimate the effectiveness of C rigs at night...The weight dragging on the bottom and causing some commotion is a real key here. Keep the pause a little longer so the fish can locate it in the darkness. Scents like JJ's or Megastrike are a bonus.

Nothing that I have ever tried out fishes a black jointed jitterbug at night. It is all you need. I carry a extra one just in case.

I did try the c- rig last night with a Zoom Brush Hawg June bug. I was trying the dark colors. I grabbed the 7" Anaconda but put it back in my bag. I should of tossed it maybe the moon light would of lit up the red in the watermelon. I don't have the thumper yet or lobster. I might have to pick up a bottle JJ's or Megastrike.

Yea I know Bass-brat recommended it too, the Jitterbug. I went to get some but Gander Mountain was closed. I didn't even check to see if Wal-mart carried the black. I will get me a few this week though.

I tried my 1/2 ounce black and blue jig with a 4" Berkly chigger crawl. All I had for my jig and no luck. I went blank last night and my buddy only caught one crappie. last night was bad times. My battery for depth finder and spot light I put on charger and said it was 75 % charge so I figure ok good to go. So I get on water now Battery is dead and no finder or light. I went last night using My head band light, the one with 4 settings for a head light. It worked help my spot the fish attractants and stumps sticking up out the water that I couldn't see by the moon light.

I never heard of this bait might have to  check it out!

Any movement in the water causes water molecules to collide. This causes pressure waves that act like ripples in the water. These pressure waves are detected by the lateral line. Bass prefer to hunt by sight but at night the lateral line becomes a major player. I have caught hundreds of bass at night with a jig ( w/ rattles) A spinnerbait can be awesome at night as well. Soft plastics that push alot of water like the Rage series, Lake Fork Hyper series, Zoom Dead Ringer and Brush Hog can be deadly. Boot tail or paddle tail swimbaits can shine also. I would not rely on topwater. It has its time, but has too many limitations. When the thermocline sets up, you can actually incorporate deep diving cranks into your arsenol. Dont get caught up in lunar phases. I have over 200 night trips under my belt and have caught them on all phases. The moon does help provide a silloutte for over head presentations, but anytime you can get out is a good time. Fish will transition from vegetation to wood soon if there is an abundance of it, so dont get caught up in one single pattern. Some bodies of water fish better than others at night as well. Oh hey, try swimming a jig with the lower half of a Stanley Ribbit Frog. Use a light VERY SPARINGLY. I am out of time. Good luck.
