Went out to 3 different ponds today looking for a decent bedding fish. One was empty of beds, one only had a few, and the other had a fish chilling in the shallows. I caught 3 bass over the course of 5 hours. I haven't caught a bass over 3 pounds since november. maybe 200 3/4-1 pound bass since then. I think I'm starting to get tired of exhausting myself riding my bike around just to catch a few small bass. I sat around bored and depressed and did nothing all afternoon since I fished because there is nothing I enjoy besides fishing. I just want to catch a darn 5 pounder so I can be happy instead of working my butt off for a couple dinks, but there are no big fish in the ponds I fish and I have no way of getting to a larger lake.

I know this is kind of a pointless post but I had to get that off my back. Does anyone else feel this way?

Aww man, I feel for ya. Sometimes we all have those streaks. But hey, at least you are catching fish!!

we all been there.  stand back to evaluate and you'll come back with a new found perspective.  

did you read 'in search of giant bass' bill murphy? it helped me put down the power baits and focus on slow presentations=consistently larger bass.

upgrading to a 6" senko helps separates the dinks from the big girls. 

and slow working a jig is deadly.

if i only had 2 big bass lures for the rest of my life, it would be them.

I know how you feel.  The largest one I caught last year was 2-10, and some of my friends have already broken the 6 lb. mark this year.  I'm still waiting.

CP maybe it it time to change it up and think outside the box. Fish something you don't normally throw, maybe change size and/or color of a presentation that has produce the 5 in the past. Sometimes smaller is better, a 4" senko or finesse worm. Bedding fish aren't as fun as IMO pre and post fish that are hungry. If there coming off beds throw a popper or buzzbait. Hope you shake they funk your in. Good luck.

That thread was locked for a reason. He was told what he did was wrong more than a few times and I am positive that he now knows that what he did was wrong. Everybody does things that, retrospectively, shouldn't have been done, but thats life. Let it go.

But keep it up CP, even catching small bass is still catching fish! Keep the faith and a big one will be just around the corner!

I hate to make it seem so easy but fish where there's big fish. Is it possible the ponds you're fishing just don't have many big fish in them? I know when I want to catch a big fish I don't go to the local lakes because there aren't many in them. I'll go somewhere with a good population of bigger fish to increase my odds. That may not be an option for you if you're restricted to where you can bike to though.

wow, people are still hung up about that? As I already said it was foolish and immature and I regret it. Btw, it was a C&R pond.
