Yo-Zuri Hybrid Fishing Line Clear

Featured Replies

What are your thoughts about this line? Like or dislike? How's the float/sinking rate?

Have you done a search on Yo-Zuri Hybrid yet? Huge topic on the forums...

Most everything to be said about the line has been said.

But it is a good, popular line... I like it, not my main go-to (P-Line Floroclear), but a go-to right after P-Line...

Won't sink like pure FC, but being a blended nylon + FC, it has a neutral buoyancy, I believe - roadwarrior can correct me on that. But it'll float until surface tension is broken.

Holds knots very well. Abrasion resistance is good, and the stuff is very strong for it's rating.

I have it on my spinning set up to try, I like it so much that I spooled my other gear up with it to. Great overall line when it comes to things like manageability, strength, and abrasion resistance. I would highly recomend it.

Spinning tackle: #6 = 11.9 lb breaking strength

Baitcasting gear: #12= 19.5 lb breaking strength

I caught a foot and a half (estimate) wide skate on 6# clear with a medium spinning rod.  I had to purposely break off in order to move on.  In open water,  it was a beast.

I thought I read some where that the Yo-Zuri #6 was about the same diameter as mono #8. Can someone confirm?

Yo-Zuri 6# has a diameter of .010 with a 11.9lb breaking strength.

8lb mono is - Berkley Trilene XT .012

                     Stren Original  .011

                     Suffix elite .011

                     Seaguar Senshi .009

So yes it does have a little larger diameter, but it is excellent line

BTW -  Berkley Trilene XT 6# is  .010

            Stren Original 6# is .009

            Suffix Elite 6# is .010

            Seaguar Senshi 6# is  .008

Not that much difference!

I do not think yo-zuri hybrid is quite as limp as, say, Trilene XL however it's strength (literal strength) far outweighs this deficiency.  I've saved a fair number of lures ($$$)  that would've broken off with a lesser line.
