How do you rig a Yamamoto "Kreatrure"?

Featured Replies

Recently bought a packet of Yamamoto "Kreatures" with dreams of pitching to the big bass in the sunken island weedpatches out in front of my place.

But. . . have no idea how to rig this acclaimed plastic lure, and also should I use a scent attractant.

Any advice anybody?

best success w/ weightless. deadly bait! if you must use a weight go as light as you can.

From RW. Yes, this does work.

Fish it just like he says in that thread.

I've pegged a small weight to them before. Something small like an 1/8oz or 1/4oz tungsten bullet weight depending on the depth you're working at. They do have some lift when rigged backwards I've found. It helps to keep it at the depth you want a little better.

As far as an attractant goes, if you're working through weeds, it's hard to beat Megastrike just to make the bait a little slicker.  The odor and holding power of that stuff is a bonus.

with a pegged bullet weight. these things make awesome jig trailers

I use it mostly on a jighead.

Shake2, Ike's Spike, and Spot Stalker jigheads.

Haven't caught any fish on one T-rigged, and very few fished weightless.

I'm telling you...weightless is dynamite!!! give it another try.

I hear ya soccplayer. I haven't given up on it.

RW is one of my regular fishin buds, and this is one of his go-to baits. I believe him when he says it's top-shelf.

It just hasn't done it for me, yet.

Its a good c-rig bait.

I've also done well with it on a heavy duty drop shot (power shot)

use it on a jighead.  To me it is basically a jig without the skirt, and you just have to put the weight you want on it.

Rigging the hook: 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook,

standard T-rig or Texposed depending on the cover.

As with any lure, location is everything. I have

some luck on structure, but the Kreature really

shines in and around weeds. The best situation

is fishing along a weedline, fished like a spinnerbait

with an occasional twitch.

Huh. Keep it moving? It's not fished like a worm or jig then. Interesting.

I'm gonna try something a little different with the Kreature tomorrow. After rigging it backwards while weighted with an unpegged 1/8 oz. bullet weight and swimming it along weedlines as has been previously mentioned, I noticed it spinning and twisting in the water a lot. But it looked a lot like a jig and trailer also. Got me to thinking....So I picked up some 3/16 "Giggy Head" and will try the backwards rig/swimming action with one tomorrow. Might even just hop-n-drop it like a jig. Here's a shot of the "Giggy Head".

You mentioned PITCHING and WEED PATCHES.  The pegged or bobber stopped bullet style weight and a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG would be my choice, especially if the water is fairly deep.  It's a good bait in vegetation and moves a lot of water.  Go whack em' !  By the way my grand Dad was from Stalbridge Devonshire England.  Now that's a Brit ! ;)

The Kreature is one of my most productive baits. For pitching I texas-rig it a Musatad Denny Brauer Flippin' Hook (3/0) with a 3/16-5/16 slip sinker. I also use it weightless and have had very good results.
