Does This Look A Little Overkill?

Featured Replies

Picked up a Snagproof Kickin Frog and wanted to turn it into something a little similar to a Bobbys Perfect Buzz. Got a twin bladed buzz setup from an Optimum Baits Ambitious Buzz Swimbait and hung the Frog off the back.

Did I go a little overboard on this or does it look like "money".I'm afraid the twin buzz blades might spook the fish.

Looks like a nice Muskie bait. I think it'll be hard on gears so make sure the reel is up to the task. Hope it works for you!

Changing bass baits is usual and expected so what you did is acceptable.

All pros change their baits and do not let anyone know what they do as it gives them an advantage.

Keep experimenting.

It looks pretty badass to me,, should catch agressive fish

Ya never know until ya try it! Just remember if the pros are giving out their tips they have other tricks up their sleeve to replace what they just gave out.

I'd fish it. In fact, I have what's left of a Cavitron that caught one too many fish that I may have to rig in front of one of my frogs like that  :idea2:

nice have you tried it out yet. I have thought bout putting a buzz blade on a soft plastic frog

I would suggest not using the hollow body frog, but instead a soft plastic like a ribbit or horney toad. the reason is the hookup ratio with a hollow body is not great, but the soft plastic frogs do have a good ratio. Also the hollow body frog is best used over thick vegitation that comes up to the surface(i know a lot of people use them for open water and that is fine), but with your rig the buzz props would get fowled up and degrease the effectiveness of the rig. it is a good idea, with some tweaking I think it could work for you. Having something the fish have not seen before might make the difference on anygiven day on a heavily pressures fishery.

anything attached to a buzzbait is excellent...buzzbaits FTW!

IMHO, the only over kill is the size of the snap.  ;)  Let us know how it works for you.   Have you named it?

I have seen quite a few of the single and double inline versions but i don't think i have seen the double Y set up except when i tried a stanley Bull ribbit when i lost a skirt on a double buzzer before.

Good luck and let us know how you do!!

Haven't had the chance to try it yet...maybe next week

Nice looking bait.  It looks like it would draw a reaction strike if nothing else.
