Your ideal conditions for throwing a shakey head and what technique works best for you? I have tried a few times but it never paid off for me. I am determined to make it work.

Try to find any structure you can, with wood being the best to use the shaky head.

Great presentation and it always catches fish for me. 

as with any "new" technique try it when you are already catching fish on something else. This will help you gain confidence in the bait. A shakey head can be deadly!

I like throwing mine around shell & Rock beds. I also like to throw it around any structure, I have done better in shallower water (less than 6ft). Just keep at it, it is a deadly technique

What is the weight of jig you are using for the large kut tails??? i'm guessing it's the megastrike 2 jig.

I use it around cover, docks and stumps when the fishing is slow.  Usually in water 8-18ft.

I fish them really anywhere at any time.  structure is a big plus, I normally fish under a bridge with some rock piles and standing timber.

i have used the pro model and the regular model. i like the pro better but i still have an issue with the screw gouging out the center of my bait and i have to change the bait far far more often that lets say texas rig.. is this the norm?? i cant stand the regular model. the screw part doesnt hold the bait worth a poo, imo... perhaps i am doing this all wrong 

Shakyhead fishing is one place where lighter is usually better IMO. My favorite set up is a 1/8 oz Spot Remover jig with a Zoom Trickworm. I will go up to 3/16 or 1/4 oz in deep water, or if wind requires a little more weight. I will downsize to a Zoom finesse worm in very clear water or when the fish insist. I use 6# YoZuri Hybrid and spinning gear (a 6'6" MF rod is my preference).

As has been said, you can fish them just about anywhere. Transition seams, esp where rock/gravel meets grass, are some of my favorite spots to use them. Rocky points and humps are also high on the list. Good luck.
