Mann's Jelly Worm

Featured Replies

Just picked up some 8" and 12" Jelly worm's at BPS today in grape and blackberry.  Haven't used them before. Just wandering what your favorite ways of fishing them are. T-rig, shakey head, c-rig, etc...?

I have always T-Rigged mine and had success. I love the Jelly Worm.

Texas and Carolina rigs.

What size hook for the 12inch jellyworm?  Also what size weight do you use texas rigging

I use a 6/0 EWG for the 12", but a 5/0 will do in a pinch.

Jelly worms are great oldies and still work wonders today. I Texas rig them. For the sizes you bought, go with the larger (6/0) EWG hooks, as that's a lot of plastic to get balled up in a bass's mouth!

What about weight size, he asked that as well.

I've used the 8" Jelly Worm since the early 70's mostly during summer/fall and at night. I always use a texas rig with a 5/0 straight shank or offset bend hook. I let the fish determine the size of the slip sinker to use depending on their mood.

I have been wanting to get some of these worms for a while now.  I am going to pick up some of the 12" baits as soon as I can.

around 1/2 oz weight would be good. They're a big fat worm!

I actually prefer a light weight with the large worms. My preference is the 1/8th. ounce size. Works for me.  ;)

I'm the same way. The lighter weights are my preference but I have used heavier bullet weights and had alot of success.

i use the 8" on a 5/0 ewg hook and a 3/16 oz screw in sinker.  i like the lighter weight to give the worm more action.

Owner Oversize worm hook - 7/0 for the 8" and 11/0 for the 12". Best big worm hook on the market.

I T-Rig these on a light bullet (3/8oz) weight - great worm.
