Hi, 

Im new to the forums, and honestly am pretty new to fishing. I just bought a new reel last week(Abu Garcia Black Max.) When i first used the reel the magnetic braking system would click as i adjusted it, but now it just smoothly turns into position. The brakes are still being adjusted correctly. Just wanted to know if this is normal, and if its not how do i go about fixing this.

Yes, a reel that new should be replaced under warranty.

Not normal.  Something is broke.

There is a small v shaped metal tab that is molded in the brake dial that rests in notches around where the brake dial rests in the side plate. Sounds like that tab broke loose.
