Stx Vs Premier

Featured Replies

My cousin just texted me the following: what's the 100 difference between these 2? The premier looks like it has 1 additional cosmetic feature and all the specs look the same. Am I missing somethin???? --- any of Abu guys can you throw me info for him. Idk these reels

Lighter materials too. Not sure as I'm on my phone, but the Premier is quite a but lighter than the STX. It's much smoother too

I was unimpressed with the Premier when I looked at it. I liked the carbon fiber handle, but that was it. The STX has a better braking system, and is plenty light. No way could I justify the extra cost to get a Premier over an STX. I didn't find the Premier to be any smoother than the STX when I looked at them at BPS. I would read all of the threads about the Gen 3 Revos having issues though. I had an S, SX, and STX and ditched them all and Chronarchs. I had nothing but trouble out of my Revos.

the premier has the infinitly variable brake.there is no better braking system imho than this.it's the same as my mgx which can cast light lures and heavy lures furthur then any reel i ever used with no backlash or thumb.

Sorry, have to disagree there. I have 4 of the Gen2 Premiers, an MGX and a Gen3 STX. I vastly prefer the dual brakes on the Premier and G3 STX to the IVCB system on the MGX. Much easier to set and much more consistent. My MGX now lives below decks as an emergency spare reel. I tried for a long time to get happy with it, even changing spool bearings after a few months. Just never clicked. And you read that a fair amount with the IVCB system. So I will not be buying any of the Gen3 Premiers with that same IVCB system in them.

Oh, and in the G3 reels, the STX is only like 1/3oz heavier than the Premier.

I'll take that emergency MGX off your hands for you. I have plenty of reels that I could trade you that will work just as well sitting in the rod locker.

I may sell it someday, but that'd be a first for me. I tend to just hang on to stuff after I buy it, good or bad.

Why would anybody provide their name and address publicly, for anyone to see? Also he gave no indication he was willing to sell it as this point in time. Personally, I would delete that post or edit it.
