Fishing Bank Grass

Featured Replies

At my home lake the bass havent moved out to their deep summer ledges/brush or rock piles, instead they are relating to the plentiful water willow at the edge of the lake. The best water willow("grass") are the strips that are adjacent to 5-8 ft deep water. Have caught several fish lately running spinnerbaits and swim jigs down the weed line, and pitching jigs, soft plastics, and shaky heads into pockets and working them back out. During lowlight hours a hollow body frog worked through and out of the grass has produced well. I was just curious what everyones favorite technique is when fishing water willow or other similar grass found on the banks of lakes. Looking to expand my techniques. Thanks!

I like to rip a trap through the top of the grass. Let it fall down on the top gettin hung just alittle.. then ripping it like a mad man off the grass just to let it fall back down again. Most of my strikes right after I rip it out an let it fall...  I use a BPS 7' medium/heavy with a fast tip pared with a Qauntum 7:3:1 Burner spooled with Berkley Trilene BigGame 20pound. You have to deal with getting the grass off the hooks from time to time but well worth it if you know there holding in the weeds :)

I would take a Zoom Bruzz Frog and run it through the weeds and on the outside edges. Watch out strikes can cause heart attacks ;)
